Our raw material:
Untreated wood pellets
from sustainable forestry
Using untreated wood as a fuel, Münsterland Energy relies exclusively on a renewable raw material that is a by-product of sustainable forestry, processed by our suppliers in the form of highly concentrated pellets. As the lignin contained in wood fibres ensures the solidity of the wood pellets produced in the pressing process, no synthetic pressing additives are required. Thanks to the extreme compression of the wood, the result is a fuel with a calorific value of around 4.8 kWh/kg and a bulk density of approximately 700 kg/m³.
As consistently high quality is decisive for the gasification process in our generating plant, the wood pellets we use fulfil the requirements of the European ENplus A1 standard.
WOOD PELLET FUEL REQUIREMENTS IN 2015
Approx. 30,000 tonnes
